Family life in Land O Lakes moves quickly. There is the school run on Collier Parkway, weekend walks on the trails at Conner Preserve, and long summer afternoons out on Lake Padgett. Somewhere in all of that, the kids got taller. A family session is a chance to stop for an hour and keep a record of exactly who everyone is right now.
Karissa Leigh Designs is based in Wesley Chapel, just east along State Road 54, so Land O Lakes is right in our backyard. Families in Connerton, Bexley, Ballantrae and the neighborhoods around Lake Padgett are only a short drive from the studio.
Studio or Outdoors
Family sessions can happen in the studio or at an outdoor location. The studio is an easy choice for families with babies or toddlers, or for the months when the Florida heat is too much. Outdoor sessions are all about timing. The hour before sunset gives you soft, golden light and a little relief from the heat, and Karissa will help you choose a spot that suits your family.
Which Session Fits
The 30 minute session is a good fit for smaller families, or for a quick update before the holidays. The full hour gives you time for more groupings, a few portraits of each child on their own, and a slower pace for little ones who need a break. If your youngest is turning one, the milestone mini is a sweet way to mark it. You bring the cake. Your one year old supplies the mess.
Plan for the Prints
Great family galleries are planned with the wall in mind. Before your session, ask yourself which photo you would be heartbroken not to get. Maybe it is everyone together. Maybe it is your kids laughing at each other. Then think about where it will live: over the fireplace, in an album, or on this year's holiday card. Share that with Karissa, and she will plan the session around it.
Real Families, Not Perfect Poses
Nobody needs to be a natural in front of the camera. Karissa keeps things light, gives simple directions, and leaves room for the moments you did not plan, like a toddler who wanders off mid pose or a sibling who cannot stop giggling. Those are often the frames families end up printing.
